INTRODUCTION
Youth Guardian Services (YGS) operates
four email lists for youth and young adults, herein referred to as the "lists". The lists are broken down into different age groups.
In order to maintain a safe environment
for all list members, YGS keeps date of birth information on file for age
verification and unsubscribing users when they reach the age limit on certain
lists.
To create safe cyber spaces for our members,
YGS has carefully created and adopted several rules for subscriber and
list safety. YGS asks that all list subscribers adhere to the following
rules. |
1.0 DEFINITIONS
subscriber - any qualifying individual
that has a subscription to any list that YGS serves.
list - an automated email distribution
system that emails all subscribers on the list the messages sent to the
list address.
list address - the email address a subscriber
uses when wanting to send a message to all subscribers on a list.
staff member - any List Manager, Assistant
List Manager, Lists Coordinator or Executive Staff member of Youth Guardian
Services.
rules - this set of rules that governs
the operation of the lists. |

express written permission of the Lists Coordinator.
|
4.0 SERVER OPERATION AND USABILTY RULES
4.1 Brief Message Content - "One Liners"
Subscribers will not send a message of
extreme brief content, also know as a "one-liner" to any list. Subscribers
are encouraged to send a message of measurable size appropriate for the
discussions of the list. See the Rules Examples for more details.
4.2 Personal Nature
Subscribers should not send message replies
to the list that would be more appropriate for a direct private email to
the other subscriber. See the Rules Examples for more details.
4.3 HTML Email
HTML formatted email should not be used
to send a message to the list. Subscribers will only send messages in standard
text format to the list. See the Rules Examples for more details.

of any type be sent over the list. Violation of this rule can result in
immediate suspension or expulsion from the list.

address comes back as undeliverable by your Internet Service Provider,
you will be unsubscribed for the list by a staff member or automatically
by the list processing software.
4.6 Forwarding Email
Subscribers may not automatically forward
mail coming from the list to another email account without prior permission
from the Lists Coordinator.
|
5.0 EXCEPTIONS TO SAFETY OR SERVER OPERATION
AND USABILITY RULES
Cross Posts, Forwards, Announcements and
other exception clauses in these rules should be approved by an appropriate
staff member before sending to the list. In some cases the staff member
will send to the list for you, as to show that an actual approval was given. |
6.0 ENFORCEMENT OF RULES
6.1 Duties of Subscriber
In the interest of the list remaining
a safe space for youth and young adults, it is
the duty of every subscriber to report
any violations of these rules and guidelines or any incidents of harassment
or violation to the list staff members, Lists Coordinator or YGS Executive
Staff.
6.2 Amendments
These rules may be amended by the Lists
Coordinator or YGS Executive Staff at any
time without prior notice to the subscriber.
Upon changes to the rules, all members will be notified via an email sent
to the list.
6.3 Rights of Staff
Staff members reserve the right to refuse
or cancel membership to anyone, for any reason, including, but not limited
to, fraudulent statement of age, incorrect age range for subscribed list,
and/or violations of the list's established rules and guidelines listed
herein or as they may be amended from time to time.
6.4 Staff Notifications of Rules Violations
When a subscriber is in violation of these
rules, a staff member will contact the subscriber via email and issue a
reminder, warning, suspension, or expulsion. Multiple warnings can lead
to suspension or expulsion from the list. A suspension is a period of time
as set forth by list staff in which the subscriber is removed from the
list for the time period set. Subscriber will be resubscribed to the list
by staff after the period ends. Suspension time can range from a few days
to a week or more depending on the severity of the rules violation. Expulsion
means permanent removal (banned) from the lists. Expulsion usually results
from blatant disregard for the rules or severe attacks on subscribers or
staff.
6.5 Disagreements
In cases of disagreements between a subscriber
and a staff member(s), the decision of the Lists Coordinator shall be final.
6.6 Age Verification
Information contained in subscription
requests will be considered to be true and valid until presented with suspicion
to the contrary, and will remain private and confidential. If a fraudulent
age suspicion arises, a subscriber may be asked to prove age validity.
In order to do this, a subscriber may be asked to mail a copy of his/her
driver's license or student ID. The home address may be marked out; however,
the ID must show date of birth and/or picture of subscriber. All list subscribers
agree to provide this proof upon demand, and failure to do so may result
in removal from the list. These precautions must be taken in order to preserve
the integrity of the youth only atmosphere. Subscribers may be asked to
send proof of age at any time while they are a member of the any YGS list.
The request to send proof of age may be made only by the Lists Coordinator
or YGS Executive Staff, and may be made either subjectively, or completely
at random.
